Local secondary schools typically hold Open Evenings during the Autumn term, providing Parents/Carers with the opportunity to visit and learn more about the schools before making their decision.
Induction days are scheduled by secondary schools in the Summer term, and Parents/Carers will be notified of the specific dates as they may vary.
In preparation for the transition to secondary school, during the summer term, Year 6 teachers deliver PSHE sessions. Additionally, staff from the secondary schools visit to meet the children, and an assembly is held to allow students to ask questions. Year 6 teachers also ensure a thorough handover with key staff members from the secondary schools, while SEND teams from the respective schools coordinate with our Inclusion team for a smooth transition process.
Should additional support be needed, extra visits and transition sessions can be arranged. The Home-School Link Worker (HSLW), in collaboration with the Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA), organise these additional sessions. The HSLW also maintains close communication with the secondary schools to ensure a seamless transition for all students.
