Local secondary schools typically hold open evenings during the Autumn term, providing parents with the opportunity to visit and learn more about the schools before making their decision.
Induction days are scheduled by secondary schools in the Summer term, and parents will be notified of the specific dates, as they may vary.
In preparation for the transition to secondary school, Year 6 teachers deliver PSHE sessions during the Summer term. Additionally, staff from the secondary schools visit to meet the children, and an assembly is held to allow students to ask questions. Year 6 teachers also ensure a thorough handover with key staff members from the secondary schools, while SEND teams from the respective schools coordinate with our Inclusion team for a smooth transition process.
Should additional support be needed, extra visits and transition sessions can be arranged. The Home-School Link Worker (HSLW), in collaboration with the Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA), organises these additional sessions. The HSLW also maintains close communication with the secondary schools to ensure a seamless transition for all students.
